Blue Chakra

“Blue Chakra” is a very intricate piece of artwork . I have combined watercolors and Zentangle. The monochromatic blue circles are the base for elegant and intricate patterns with black ink. Blue is the coolest color. The color of the sky, ocean, sleep, twilight, blue is perceived as a constant in our lives. A pure blue is the color of inspiration, sincerity and spirituality. Blue calls for feelings of calmness.
Chakra is a Sanskrit word which means "Circle" or "Wheel". In the Hindu and Buddhist religious traditions the sacred art often takes a Mandala form (Circle form). These mandalas, concentric diagrams, have spiritual and ritual significance in both Buddhism and Hinduism. The term is of Hindu origin and appears in the Rig Veda.
A mandala is employed for focusing attention of aspirants and adepts, as a spiritual teaching tool, for establishing a sacred space, and as an aid to meditation and trance induction. Scientifically, its symbolic nature can help one to access progressively deeper levels of the unconscious, ultimately assisting the meditator to experience a mystical sense of oneness with the ultimate unity from which the cosmos in all its manifold forms arises. It is therefor considered as a representation of the unconscious self and represents the entire universe.
The art is created on Arches watercolor paper , with Blue shades of watercolor . The zentangle patterns on the Blue Circles are created with black Sakura Pen. The painting measures 23"x 23" . The watercolor paper has been glued to the plyboard and is ready to Hang.
Here are few photos that I remembered to click while working on this piece. So you could see the process.
