Holi 2012

I kind of have this love-hate feeling for Holi, the spring festival aka the festival of colors... Hate because I don't really like getting wet and smeared with colors all over me...(I guess its the hygiene part of me that makes the fuss......) But I absolutely love the excitement, joy and fun that Holi brings Oh!!! how can I forget "Gujjia", the yummy stuffed sweet dish.....Its a spring festival celebrated with joy and colors, welcoming the new change and spreading the love....Being a South Indian Holi was not really celebrated by my parents at home...it is predominately a North Indian festival...however things have changed even while I was growing up...well, who can ever say no to FUN...My best Holi ever was back in 1998-99...with my school friends...as a gang of girls we had super fun smearing colors, walking down the streets...and dodging the colored water balloons that were thrown on us from the surrounding apartment balconies...Those were some best days of my life....
This year as I sit at my desk miles away from my land and all the Holi excitment....I had my fun with colors like this...
It is customary to start with "Gulal" meaning Pink and here I go with pink...
Then I got all excited and started blowing the color drops with a straw...what fun!!
Then I got super excited and tangled all around...
