The SketchBook Scoop – Week 1
My story.....So, I have always had trouble sketching..more so sketching from life... and deep down I just envied and still envy those who sketch and sketch beautifully...be it still life-figures-lanscapes-architecture... For a long time, I kept avoiding Mr. S... While he kept showing up everywhere I went.... When I moved back to India last year...my only art group here were weekend sketchers...these people met every week at a new location in the city and just sketched... So I joined them....and....yeah I just could not sketch...it was humiliating when everyone shared their work at the end of the session and I had nothing to show.... so after a while I stopped attending these meets...... but Mr. S would not stop following me.... week after week I saw fellow sketcher's works on FB group and I could actually see their works getting better and better with every passing week ..... I then decided to take one good look at Mr. S and got back and started attending the meets again.... Nope, no magic happened it was the same....but this time I did make an effort to do something...no matter how sloppy the work was I did something....and of course I never showed them...it was/is still humiliating but I am determined to overcome it ... determined to make friends with Mr. S and not be scared of him....While I was still taking those tiny steps....an online friend mentioned about an online sketchbook class.... well yes, I am in middle of the course now..and it is helping me overcome my sketching block... and is helping me build a daily routine.....
The SketchBook Scoop...is my journey and my story of overcoming the sketching block in the pursuit to create beautiful and inspiring art...
Here are some I did this week... (it is a big step for me to put them out for you to see...so be gentle with your comments..... 🙂 )
My son's toys make good still life models... 😉
Working with watercolors and a bit of journaling...
I have trouble seeing...but I guess I have to sketch more to see better...
