Stepping outside our comfort zone, gently changes the way we see the world.
A change of place, a little travel, unfamiliar streets, new faces, different sounds and colours—they all bring a fresh perspective to an otherwise smoothly sailing life. Nothing may have been particularly wrong before, yet somehow, a change of scenery makes us notice things we had stopped seeing.
And strangely, time seems to expand.
During my travels, I found myself enjoying these little pockets of unhurried time. Sitting at a café, taking in the décor, watching people pass by, listening to the sounds around me—and simply creating.
I brought out a white tile and began tangling.
There was no plan to finish it quickly. No expectation of where it would go. Just the simple pleasure of putting pen to paper while being surrounded by a new environment.
I added colour along the way, letting the tile evolve naturally. The familiar rhythm of tangling felt wonderfully different when experienced in an unfamiliar place.
I used Eros, Blomkoal, Block Chain and Fugu, building a simple composition and adding colour to bring the tile to life.
Perhaps that is what I love most about travel. It doesn’t always have to be about seeing more places or ticking things off a list. Sometimes, it is simply about seeing ordinary moments differently.
A café becomes a little studio.
People become inspiration.
And a few quiet minutes with a pen become a beautiful pause in the middle of a journey.
Sometimes, all we need is a change of place to create a little more space within ourselves.
