Art has always been my quiet adventure. Growing up in India, creativity was woven into everyday life—through vibrant handwoven silk sarees, intricate temple sculptures, and painted ceilings that told stories without words. I was endlessly fascinated. As a child, I spent hours lost in colours, copying illustrations from storybooks and newspapers, simply for the joy of it.
I began as a curious, self-taught artist, learning by observing, experimenting, and trusting my instinct. Though I never followed a formal art education, life became my classroom. Along the way, I was fortunate to learn from generous mentors and master artists during my travels across the world. Each experience left its mark, shaping my artistic voice. Today, my work is a joyful patchwork of these influences—impressionistic in spirit, rich in colour, and rooted in the beauty of everyday life.
A defining moment in my journey came when I met inspiring women artists who encouraged me to step into my confidence and claim my space as an artist. Since 2011, I’ve exhibited in juried shows across India and the USA. In 2023, I reached a cherished milestone with my first solo exhibition at the iconic Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai.
Through meditative art, storytelling, and vibrant colour, I explore ways to gently transform life’s chaos into calm, meaningful expressions. Whether I’m guiding someone through their first Zentangle strokes or creating paintings inspired by travel and lived moments, my intention remains the same—to weave beauty, mindfulness, and connection into everyday life.
I work from my breezy studio by the Bay of Bengal in Injambakkam, Chennai.

India’s First
Certified Zentangle Teacher
I’m Sandhya Manne, an artist and a Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT), practicing and teaching Zentangle since 2010.
What began as a personal creative anchor has grown into a lifelong journey of learning, sharing, and
guiding thousands of people across the world into mindful creativity.
My own introduction to Zentangle happened during a challenging phase of life while living in the USA—with two young children, little support, and a longing to stay connected to my creative self. A single four-hour Zentangle workshop changed everything. The simplicity, calm, and joy of the process gave me instant clarity, confidence, and a deep sense of Zen. I was completely captivated—and I’ve been tangling ever since.
In 2011, I became India’s first Certified Zentangle Teacher. Since then, I’ve taught thousands of enthusiastic students through community colleges, art associations, schools, private sessions, group classes, international online workshops, and corporate programs. I regularly work with organizations such as Texas Instruments, Wipro, Danfoss, Target, Marico, Kotak Mahindra, and Asian Paints, introducing Zentangle as a powerful tool for focus, stress relief, and creative well-being.
In April 2020, during the global pandemic, I began sharing Zentangle Mini Projects on social media from my home. These simple, accessible projects brought comfort and joy to people worldwide—and inspired many to ask for deeper learning. This led me to design structured online courses that help students refine techniques, build confidence, and grow steadily in their practice.
Today, I create and teach from my studio in Chennai, while building vibrant online Zentangle communities. I’m honored to guide you on your Zentangle journey—one mindful stroke at a time.
Let’s tangle together. ✨

Living an Artful Life
When I’m not splashing colour onto a canvas or creating intricate Zentangles, you’ll often find me wandering through the grand corridors of ancient Hindu temples—sometimes with my husband and our children, and sometimes happily on my own. Those quiet solo moments are my way of slowing down and listening.
I love to travel, whether it’s exploring India’s scenic landscapes or trekking through the awe-inspiring Himalayas. The Valley of Flowers and the sacred journey to Mount Kailash have gifted me deep inspiration and unforgettable stories. Outside India, I enjoy visiting national museums and art galleries, absorbing masterpieces, and understanding local cultures, history, and old architecture.
When I’m home, I enjoy music, long walks, meaningful conversations, books, and having friends over. Life, to me, is a graceful blend of art, family, travel, and quiet reflection—and I love sharing these everyday joys through my blog and Instagram stories.
I’m deeply drawn to all things traditional and handmade—handwoven sarees that feel like poetry, intricate jewellery steeped in heritage, and beautifully crafted mojadis. Life feels like a kaleidoscope of colours, textures, and experiences, and I delight in capturing and sharing these moments. For me, art isn’t just what I do—it’s how I live.
