A Warm, Organic Zentangle Practice

A Warm, Organic Zentangle Practice

Today’s tile emerged from a quiet intention: to revisit a regular Zentangle practice with just two pens—black and brown—and a handful of tangles that always bring a sense of natural rhythm. I began with Lamier and Put, two patterns I’d been wanting to explore more deeply. Their organic structure has a way of grounding the tile, allowing the rest of the composition to unfold with ease.

As the lines grew, I slowly brought in Rixty, PokeRoot, Flux, and Scena. Each one added its own personality—Rixty with its playful geometry, PokeRoot with its gentle roundness, Flux flowing like leaves in motion, and Scena stitching everything together with its delicate strokes. Working with black and brown pens gave the tile a warm, earthy tone, almost like a walk through a shaded forest path.

There’s something deeply satisfying about organic tangles. They invite you to loosen up, let go of precision, and let your hand follow a natural rhythm. Today’s practice reminded me that Zentangle doesn’t have to be elaborate to feel fulfilling. Even a simple combination of favorite tangles can bring a sense of ease, flow, and quiet joy.

A lovely way to begin—or end—the day.
