Where Color and Pattern Meet

Where Color and Pattern Meet

This week’s tile began with a vibrant wash of color and a simple invitation to explore. Layer by layer, Lotus Pad, Bronx Spear, Joki, Wunder Wall, Flora, Holiday, and Veruca found their place within the composition, each bringing its own rhythm, texture, and character.

What I enjoy most about working this way is watching individual tangles interact with one another. A structured pattern creates contrast against an organic one. A delicate line softens a bold shape. Color adds energy, depth, and movement. Together, these elements create something far richer than any single tangle could achieve on its own.

For many Tanglers, this is where the real adventure begins. Learning tangles is only the first step. The next stage is understanding how to combine them thoughtfully—how to create balance, guide the eye, build contrast, and transform a collection of patterns into a cohesive piece of art.

Materials : 4.5 inches white Zendala Tile, Black Micron 01, White Gelly Roll Pen, Water Colours, White Charcoal Pencil, Graphite Pencil and Stub.
