A Summer Solstice Celebration in Color and Pattern

The Summer Solstice always feels a little magical—a moment to pause and celebrate light, abundance, and the beauty of long, sun-filled days. It seemed like the perfect occasion to spend some time with color, pattern, and playful creativity.

This week's tile was a joyful exploration featuring MYSEALIAM, ANOOKA, BEELIGHT, LUV-A, NESTLED FLUX, ABEKO, SHUTTUCK, and PRINTEMPS. Each tangle brought its own distinct character to the composition, creating an engaging interplay of movement, texture, and detail.

One of my favorite things about working with multiple tangles is discovering the unexpected relationships that emerge between them. A bold pattern creates a beautiful counterpoint to a delicate one. Flowing lines soften geometric structures. Tiny details invite the eye to linger, while color brings everything together with warmth and energy.

There is something wonderfully fitting about creating a vibrant tile on the Summer Solstice. The season itself is a celebration of fullness—gardens in bloom, bright skies, longer days, and the feeling that creativity is flourishing alongside nature. The colors in this tile seemed to echo that spirit, weaving through the patterns like sunlight dancing across a summer garden.

As each tangle found its place, the tile became a small celebration of the season—a gathering of shapes, colors, and possibilities.

Whether you mark the Summer Solstice with a creative project, a quiet moment outdoors, or simply an appreciation for the beauty around you, may this season bring inspiration, joy, and plenty of opportunities to explore the things that light you up.
