Every year, International Day of Zentangle (IDOZ) reminds us how a simple pen stroke can connect people across the world through creativity, mindfulness, and joy. On July 15th, the Zentangle community gathered once again to celebrate this shared practice, and Rick and Maria surprised us with the introduction of a brand-new tangle—POLYPOLI.

The moment I saw it, I knew I wanted to spend some time exploring it.

Some tangles reveal themselves quickly. Others keep unfolding the longer you stay with them. POLYPOLI belongs to the second kind. I approached this tile with a big, happy heart, letting curiosity lead the way. There was no destination in mind—just the quiet pleasure of seeing where each stroke would take me. Before I knew it, one idea had grown into another, and the pattern seemed to take on a life of its own.

What I love most about POLYPOLI is its incredible versatility. It can appear bold or delicate, geometric or flowing, depending entirely on the choices you make. It's the kind of tangle that encourages experimentation and rewards you with delightful surprises along the way.
