There are seasons in life when everything seems to fall back into its familiar rhythm. The schools have reopened, the house is bustling again, and my days are filled with the comforting predictability of breakfast, packing lunches, school schedules, errands, and keeping up with the ever-changing world of two teenagers. Not to mention the endless conversations, disagreements, negotiations, laughter, and moments that require patience and understanding. It's like a mental marathon—honestly, it's not even funny how much mental and emotional energy is quietly spent.
But nothing like a pen, paper, and presence that magically washes away the dust of everyday life. The outside world softens. Breathing slows down. One deliberate stroke leads to another, and the chatter in my mind begins to settle. There is no pressure to create a masterpiece—only the simple joy of being present with the next line.
"Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life." – Pablo Picasso
Picasso's words ring especially true on days like these. Art doesn't remove the responsibilities of everyday life, but it does wash away the dust they leave behind. It restores, renews, and quietly fills the soul again.
Sometimes, all we need is a pen, a piece of paper, and a few mindful moments to remember who we are beneath the busyness. And in those moments, I find myself again.
