Imagine your colored pencil work glowing with an inner light. That's what happens when you work on translucent tiles.
This workshop was originally designed for an event last year. I was thrilled to share "She Sells Sea Shells” with my students here and they left utterly enchanted by what's possible when you shift your working surface.

Sea shells became our muse. But this wasn't about creating pretty illustrations on paper. Working with translucent tiles changes the entire game. As colored pencils layered across the surface, something unexpected happened—light itself became part of the artwork. The shells seemed to shimmer. The patterns gained dimension. Every stroke told a different story depending on how the light hit it.

What surprised my students most wasn't the final pieces (though those were gorgeous). It was realizing how much creative potential they'd been missing by staying within familiar boundaries. One simple shift in material opened entirely new possibilities.

The energy in the studio was electric. It’s always fun discovering a technique that makes you want to create immediately, to experiment further, to see what else becomes possible.

If you've been curious about exploring beyond traditional mediums, or if you're ready to surprise yourself with what your art can become—this workshop is calling you.
