A quiet midsummer afternoon and a few familiar tangles — that was enough to slow the day beautifully.
I felt like revisiting Delys and Moon Pie, tangles I hadn’t used in a long time. Placing them inside a circular composition somehow felt right, giving both patterns space to flow naturally. Slowly, Echoism and Cruffles found their way onto the tile too, adding softness and movement.
What I enjoyed most was the shading. The brown chalk pencil on a tan Renaissance tile feels incredibly smooth, almost like butter over the pen work. There is something very calming about the way it blends into the surface.
Even with the richness of black, brown, and white, it is the brown pencil that adds a gentle warmth and quiet depth to the tile. Subtle, but beautiful.
Just a peaceful day spent indoors, with sunlight through the windows, familiar patterns, and the simple joy of drawing one mindful stroke at a time.
