Echoes of Antwerp

Echoes of Antwerp

Some places stay with you long after you leave them. For me, Antwerp was one of those places. The old town felt almost magical — rich with history, layered with beautiful architecture, and filled with quiet little details waiting to be noticed. I spent hours simply walking through the streets, admiring the charm of the city and soaking in its timeless elegance.

But among everything I explored, the Antwerp train station completely stole my heart. It was simply stunning. Every corner seemed filled with inspiration — ornate carvings, graceful arches, delicate patterns, and a sense of grandeur that felt both artistic and deeply emotional.

While looking up at the inner façade, I noticed a small decorative string-like element near the top of the structure. It instantly caught my attention. There was something rhythmic and graceful about it, and I knew I wanted to bring that feeling into my art.

Using that tiny architectural detail as inspiration, I created this tan round tile and allowed it to become highly decorative, almost echoing the richness of the station itself. I worked with black, brown, and white pens and pencils, layering contrasts and soft shading to capture the warmth, elegance, and intricate beauty that Antwerp so effortlessly carries.
