July 15th marked the International Day of Zentangle—a beautiful reminder of how this art form connects us across continents through lines, patterns, and presence. To honour the day, we came together to create a tile that explored the fascinating dance between two tangles: Huggins and Spoken.
It was a joyful celebration on a tan tile, using the earthy warmth of black, brown, and white pens. The interplay of structure and flow—Huggins with its woven symmetry and Spoken with its spiraling, radiating energy—created a captivating composition. The contrast of tones and techniques brought a quiet sophistication to the piece. I had previously explored this same combo on a white tile using just black and brown, and it was exciting to revisit it in a different palette. More pictures below...

Zentangle, for many of us, is more than just an art form. It is a gentle, grounding practice that nurtures mental clarity and emotional well-being. Each stroke becomes an invitation to slow down, to breathe, to be fully present. On this International Day of Zentangle, we didn’t just celebrate a method—we celebrated a mindset. A way of being.
To everyone who joined in or celebrated in your own way—thank you. Here’s to more tangles, more mindfulness, and more moments of beauty shared across the world, one tile at a time.
