Day 10 of Project Pack 28 continues the journey into Leonardo da Vinci’s fascinating explorations—this time inspired by his studies of the coiled rope. There is something deeply satisfying about observing how a simple rope, when twisted and looped, transforms into a study of rhythm, tension, and flow.
For this tile, I chose to interpret the idea in a circular format, allowing the rope to coil into itself, almost like a continuous meditation. The repetition felt grounding, each curve naturally leading into the next, creating a sense of quiet movement.
Working on a tan tile, I used brown and white pens to build the structure, letting the warm base enhance the earthy, organic feel of the piece. Shading with brown, black, and white added depth, helping the coils feel more dimensional and tactile.
To bring in variation and visual interest, I incorporated tangles like Flux, Shattuck, and Tipple. These elements gently break the uniformity, adding texture and contrast while still supporting the overall flow.
This exploration reminded me how even the simplest forms, when observed closely, can unfold into something beautifully complex and meditative.
