Found My Tribe Through Zentangle

Found My Tribe Through Zentangle

Sometimes it just blows my mind—I have friends from all over the world! People from countries I’ve never visited, speaking languages I don’t understand… and yet, we connect like we’ve known each other forever.

And what brings us together? Zentangle. This beautiful, meditative art form that began as a quiet little practice at my table has somehow become a passport to a global tribe. Yep, my tribe, my people—we speak Zentangle!

We get excited over pens, nerd out over patterns, and send each other tiles like they’re hugs. We cheer each other on when a tile turns out magical, and gently encourage when we hit a creative block. No pressure. No judgment. Just a lovely, loopy circle of tanglers who get it.

It’s not just art—it’s connection. It’s kindness in the form of squiggly lines and dots. The 2 AM “Look what I made!” posts are met with hearts and warm encouragement.

Honestly, when I started 15 years ago, I never imagined something so simple would bring so much heart. But here we are—it’s become my way of life. Spinning lines and weaving love, one tile at a time, with my tribe.

Created this tile, in continuation of the To You Tangle 2025 Challenge that is hosted by the amazing CZTs of Japan.

Materials:3.5× 3.5 inches White Square Tile, Black Micron 01, Graphite Pencil, Stub.

Tangles: Kyoto, Mooka, Harmoony, Incut.
