Starting the day with a quiet sense of happiness and gratitude can gently shape the rhythm of everything that follows. A few mindful moments with pen and tile often become the perfect way to welcome that feeling.
This mid-week Zentangle practice unfolded on a warm tan tile, where subtle contrasts and soft shading bring each pattern to life. I chose to explore a few beautiful tangles that I do not use very often — Squill, Akoya, Flukes, and Henna Drum. Each one carries its own personality: the playful movement of Squill, the elegant curves of Akoya, the rhythmic flow of Flukes, and the ornamental charm of Henna Drum.
Working with these tangles felt like rediscovering old friends. The tan surface, paired with gentle highlights and shadows, created a lovely balance of calm structure and creative freedom.
As the patterns slowly grew across the tile, the process itself became a reminder that happiness is often found in small, simple moments of presence.
There are many beautiful reasons to be happy. After all, it is not how much we have, but how much we truly enjoy, that shapes our experience of happiness.
