The Flower Within

The Flower Within

Day 8 of Project Pack 28 finds its inspiration in Leonardo da Vinci’s timeless exploration of the Flower of Life—a symbol that speaks of harmony, connection, and the quiet geometry that underlies all creation.

For this tile, I chose the tangle FIFE to bring the Flower of Life to life, letting its rhythmic repetition echo the sacred geometry at the heart of the design. The borders are gently framed with TOFFEE and Liane, adding movement and a sense of organic flow that holds the composition together.

Working on a tan surface allowed me to explore a beautiful interplay of black, brown, and white, each shade adding depth and contrast. The inner section became a space of quiet focus, where I experimented with 3D shading, giving the pattern a subtle dimensionality—as if the design itself is breathing and expanding.

This time of the year in Amsterdam is a celebration of flowers in every form—tulips lining the streets, blossoms opening to the soft spring light. It feels especially meaningful to explore Da Vinci’s Flower of Life amidst this seasonal bloom. Nature outside and geometry within seem to mirror each other, reminding me that patterns, whether drawn or grown, are always connected.
